Fundraising in memory of Damary Dawkins

We were incredibly saddened to hear the news that Damary in Year 8 passed away on 17th March after a 4 year battle with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia. The thoughts of the Sydney Russell community are with his family and friends who are in a place that no words can describe. As a school we would like to take time to celebrate the life of Damary and raise awareness of his illness. This week candles have been burning in the atrium and staff and students have been able to leave messages that will be collected and given to Damary’s family. On Friday (29th March), we are encouraging students to wear a football shirt or sports trainers to school for a donation to a charity that will support children and adults like Damary. This event has been based on Damary’s passion for football. Orange ribbons will also be on sale for a donation. There will be a minutes silence held in memory and respect for Damary’s bravery and information given about organ donation at the democracy wall. We are extremely grateful for any contribution to this fantastic cause.
